Knickers/Undies; Sew From Scratch ββ
what students are saying
Your underwear drawer is about to get a serious upgrade!
In this hands-on workshop, you'll sew a pair of knickers from start to finish... and pick up the stretch-sewing skills to keep making them long after class. We'll cover everything that trips people up with knit fabrics: which machine stitches to use, how to choose the right needle, and how to apply picot-edge elastic for that neat lingerie finish.
You'll leave with:
- A finished pair of knickers, made by you π
- Confidence sewing with knit/stretch fabrics
- Knowledge of lingerie elastic application
The best part? You get to choose your own pattern and style. From high-waisted briefs to boy shorts to Brazilian cut, we've curated a list of tried-and-tested indie patterns so you can find your perfect style before you even walk in the door.
Here are several beginner knickers patterns we've found and can recommend to you:
- Watson Bikini Pattern by Cloth Habit (this pattern includes a Bralette)
- Traditional bikini Frankie Style 5 by Evie La Luve (this pattern has 8 style variations!!)
- Hipster Binky style 1 by Evia La Luve
- High Waisted Knickers by Madalynne
- Brazilian Cut Mia Pattern Style 1 by Studio Costura
- Boy Short - Solid Front by Emerald Erin
- Ivy Brief any solid front variations by House of Morrighan

Attendance & Preparation
Taking part in a workshop at Thread Den is fun, and we love teaching people our craft, but it''s your responsibility to clear your diary for the session(s) you''ve booked, especially if your course runs across multiple weeks. To finish your project, you''ll need to attend every session and arrive on time. Unfortunately, we can''t go back over material already covered, as it wouldn''t be fair to your fellow participants.
Please bear with us on this next point: our workshops and courses are usually booked out weeks in advance, so it isn''t always possible to simply move you into another session. If a suitable class is running and has space, we''ll try to offer you a discounted spot to help you catch up. If that''s not an option, you may need to book a private lesson to stay on track.
We also won''t chase you up to confirm you''re coming to class or that you have the right supplies. Most workshops require you to bring your own materials; we only offer a supplies kit at an additional cost for the Sewing Basics 3 Week Course. If you''re ever unsure what to bring, just email us at info@threadden.com and we''ll point you in the right direction.
We want you to love what you make just as much as we do, so please take our fabric recommendations seriously. Choosing a fabric suited to a more advanced skill level can make the experience frustrating rather than fun.
We do our best to answer common questions in each workshop description, but please don''t hesitate to email us with anything else. And we''d genuinely love to see the fabric you''re considering, we''re always happy to point you toward our favourite fabric and haberdashery suppliers.
Thanks for reading through the finer details, we appreciate it.
Our cancellation and refund policy is presented during the booking process.

- Classes are subject to sufficient enrolment (usually a minimum of 2 participants).
- We reserve the right to cancel any scheduled course.
