Build confidence in spoken Arabic with this beginner-friendly online course for people with no prior experience. With a strong focus on speaking and listening, you will develop essential skills to communicate in simple, everyday situations from your very first class.
You will be introduced to the sounds, rhythm and structure of Arabic, learning how to recognise and produce key sounds, including those not found in English, and how these influence meaning. Through practical, real-life scenarios, you will begin forming sentences, asking questions and understanding common expressions used in everyday conversation.
This course introduces Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) alongside commonly heard spoken varieties, giving you a useful foundation for understanding how Arabic is used across different regions. Classes are interactive, supportive and highly practical, with guided speaking and listening activities, cultural insights and communication practice.
Course Content
- Greetings, introductions, simple questions, numbers, time, seasons and everyday social interactions.
- Pronunciation, sound recognition, listening comprehension and building simple spoken sentences.
- Introductory grammar concepts including the Arabic sound system, word order, gender and differences between formal and spoken Arabic.

- Additional listed intake: 15 October 2026 to 17 December 2026, Thursdays 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Please purchase Talk Arabic (Book/CD Pack): The ideal Arabic course for absolute beginners, ISBN 9781406680164. This textbook is used for both this course and Arabic Course: Reading & Writing (Level 1B). It is recommended that you purchase the textbook once your course has been confirmed, usually within three working days of the proposed start date. The textbook is not included in the enrolment fee.
Certificate of Attendance
Students who attend at least 80% of the course will receive a Certificate of Attendance from Sydney Community College, recognising participation and commitment to learning Arabic.

If the organiser cancels the class:
You are entitled to a full refund.
If you can't attend the class:
You’re welcome to send someone in your place.

- A refund can be requested 10 days before class starts. An admin fee of AU$45.00 applies.

At the same time, we’re a not-for-profit organisation that commits resources to running each class—so last-minute cancellations can significantly impact our ability to offer quality, affordable programs.
That’s why we’ve created a simple, transparent policy that balances your need for flexibility with our need to plan and deliver courses sustainably. Our cancellation policy offers two clear options, depending on when you notify us:
Cancel More Than 10 Days Before the Course Starts – You can choose to receive a full refund, minus a $45 administration fee OR a non-refundable credit note valid for 12 months for the full value you paid for the course. This credit can be used towards any future course at the College.
Option 2: Cancel Within 10 Days of the Course Starting - You’ll receive a credit note valid for 12 months for 50% of the course fee you paid for the course. This credit can be used towards any future course at the College.
Please note that both refund and credit options are only available before the course begins. Once the course has started—or if you decide to withdraw after it has commenced—no refunds or credits can be issued. If you need to cancel your enrolment, just email us and we’ll take care of it based on the timelines above.
