After School Sewing: Continuing Program (9–12 Years)
This class is designed especially for students who have already completed the After School Learn to Sew program and are ready to keep building their sewing skills.

These workshops are a wonderful opportunity for students to keep sewing regularly, develop their skills and enjoy the supportive studio environment they’ve already become familiar with.
Prerequisite: This program is intended for students who have completed the After School Learn to Sew (9–12 years) class at Thread Den.

COURSE PLAN
Workshop 1:
- Taking measurements and selecting sizes
- Preparing the pattern and cutting out your size
Workshop 2:
- Laying up the pattern, cutting out the fabric and transferring markings
Workshop 3:
- Sewing the seams with ooh la la - French seams
Workshop 4:
- Assembling and attaching the waist casing
Workshop 5:
- Inserting elastic and finishing waist
Workshop 6:
- Hemming and finishing

You will learn
- New sewing skills and techniques – including reading patterns, using elastic, and creating French seams.
- Independent sewing habits – practice safe, efficient use of the sewing machine and develop problem-solving skills while making exciting creations.

- 1 metre of 3cm wide elastic and polyester sewing machine thread
- The Pattern from Style Arc (exact pattern details in confirmation email, or you can pre-purchase through Thread Den)
- 1 metre of woven fabric (see confirmation email for suggestions)

Cancellations & Refunds
If the organiser cancels the class:
You are entitled to a full refund.
If you can't attend the class:
You’re welcome to send someone in your place.
OR
- A refund can be requested 1 day before class starts. An admin fee of AU$35.00 applies.
- A transfer can be requested 4 days before the class starts. An admin fee of AU$10.00 applies.
- A credit note can be requested 4 days before the class starts. An admin fee of AU$10.00 applies.
No changes will be allowed after these times.

Attendance & Preparation
Taking part in a workshop at Thread Den is fun, and we love teaching people our craft, but it''s your responsibility to clear your diary for the session(s) you''ve booked, especially if your course runs across multiple weeks. To finish your project, you''ll need to attend every session and arrive on time. Unfortunately, we can''t go back over material already covered, as it wouldn''t be fair to your fellow participants.
Please bear with us on this next point: our workshops and courses are usually booked out weeks in advance, so it isn''t always possible to simply move you into another session. If a suitable class is running and has space, we''ll try to offer you a discounted spot to help you catch up. If that''s not an option, you may need to book a private lesson to stay on track.
We also won''t chase you up to confirm you''re coming to class or that you have the right supplies. Most workshops require you to bring your own materials; we only offer a supplies kit at an additional cost for the Sewing Basics 3 Week Course. If you''re ever unsure what to bring, just email us at info@threadden.com and we''ll point you in the right direction.
We want you to love what you make just as much as we do, so please take our fabric recommendations seriously. Choosing a fabric suited to a more advanced skill level can make the experience frustrating rather than fun.
We do our best to answer common questions in each workshop description, but please don''t hesitate to email us with anything else. And we''d genuinely love to see the fabric you''re considering, we''re always happy to point you toward our favourite fabric and haberdashery suppliers.
