Begin your journey into wine with the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines. This beginner-friendly qualification offers a hands-on introduction to the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell and taste.

You will build foundational wine knowledge, learn how to describe wines accurately, and explore practical food and wine pairing principles. The course fee includes tasting samples provided according to the minimum specification requirements of this qualification.

Assessment & Certification

  • Assessment is by a closed-book exam of 30 multiple-choice questions.
  • Upon successful completion, you will receive a digital WSET certificate and lapel pin.
  • If unsuccessful, students may resit the exam at a later date for an additional fee of $120.

Entry Requirements

  • There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
  • You must be of legal drinking age to participate in alcohol tasting.
  • Not participating in tasting is not a barrier to successfully completing the qualification.
